Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your help and support back in 2010 which contributed in a massive way to the great success of the Bradford Mile as it stands today. Now it’s time to go the distance AGAIN, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to publicise the up and coming Sport Relief Campaign, to raise awareness to the public and more importantly contribute to this national event.

At long last, Sport Relief 2012 has arrived and we’re now building up to just one thing – The Sport Relief Weekend! It all kicks off on Friday 23rd March with a day of fundraising fun at home, at work and at school, before a night of special Sport Relief telly on BBC One, packed full of celebrity performances and moving documentary films.

Then, of course, there’s The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 25th March, where hundreds of thousands of people will take to the streets to raise money and change lives. You’ll be able to see all the action on The Sport Relief Mile Show on BBC One later that day. The best bit is, all the cash you raise will be spent by Comic Relief to help people living unimaginably tough lives, both in the UK and across the world. Whether it’s to support poor and disadvantaged people at home, or further afield, with loads of ways for you to get involved in Sport Relief 2012, we hope you’ll do just that.

If you’re looking for some full-on family fun, Sport Relief has the perfect day out for you! When your family does a Mile for Sport Relief, you’re doing something truly amazing. The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is happening on Sunday 25th March and, with three distances to choose from – 1, 3 or 6 miles – there’s something for everyone on the big day.

The toddlers can do 1 mile with mum, the teenagers can race 3 miles against their mates and dad might just be brave enough to take on the big 6 miles to really rise to the challenge! Your family could even help to set a world record at Flagship Miles with the Hula Hoops Hoopathons (find out more and enter at hulahoops.com). And you might all rub shoulders with some famous faces along the way, So what are you waiting for?

Secure your place at your perfect Mile and join tens of thousands of people as you rise to the challenge to help change lives forever. That’s because all the money you raise is spent by Comic Relief to help people living unimaginably tough lives both here in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries. In fact, wherever you live in the UK, you’re within 30 miles of a project supported by Comic Relief. Whether it’s helping children with learning disabilities to take part in sport, or supporting isolated older people – your cash can help make the world of difference. So by getting sponsored to do the Mile, you could be helping to change lives not that far away from you.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Entering the Mile: Once you’ve Chosen your distance 1, 3 or 6 miles, simply go to www.sportrelief.com/themile and select The Bradford Mile. When you enter, you’ll need to pay small entry fee. It’s just £6 for adults, £3 for children and under 16, and £15 for a family (that’s for 2 adults and 2 kids). Your entry fees only cover the cost of staging the Mile events, it’s really important you get sponsored. It’s your sponsorship cash that will help to change lives forever.

Limited Registration on the day – Sunday 25th March 2012, Lister Park, 10.00AM (places will be limited so it’s recommended that all interested participants register via the website before hand)

Opportunity to Coach Netball in Uganda

Have you ever fancied coaching netball overseas and working with underprivileged children? Living in amongst them and experiencing real Ugandan life?

The chance is yours. Now.

The Netball Development Trust needs volunteers to come to Uganda this summer (for a 2-week period between mid-June and mid-July – dates TBC) to work with us to deliver netball to about 500 amazing children. I’ve been there. It’s amazing, inspiring and fun. It’s hard work, rewarding and life-changing.

We offer kit and equipment to the schools, clubs and newly formed netball academy we work with, so they can continue to play in the local community once we leave. Much of this comes from donations from UK clubs from the kit amnesties England Netball help us with, and some we have to buy. One day we will have sponsors for each set of kit, but for now we volunteers need to help towards this.

Costs for the tour are £1500. This covers flights, transport, accomodation, in country costs and pretty much everything else. Fundraising is a relatively easy way to raise much of this so if it seems a lot to find, just ask us for advice.

Take a look at the photos of our three successful tours so far. The pictures show what a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity this is and the experience you can gain whilst travelling to Africa at the same time.  www.netballtrust.co.uk

If you want to come on tour, please email netballtrust@hotmail.com. Alternatively, if you know someone who may be able to help us in terms of sponsorship / kit / equipment /anything, do let us know.
