Jamaica Test Series
Written by Lorna
Wednesday, 17 December 2008

The England girls are playing a test series in February against the Jamaicans - more details are here on England Netball's site - and below the information they sent out.  The nearest venue is Nottingham but the atmosphere at these games is always great so its worth the trip if you can get there!

--------------

Spectators in London, Coventry and Nottingham can brace the cold winter nights with a series of heated performances by the England squad against their old nemesis the "Sunshine Girls" on February 22, 24 and 26.

The pressure is on for an unforgettable series, as memories of the 2007 World Championships shadow the England Squad and every goal will prove vital. Aficionados will recall that the 2007 World Championship and the 2006 Commonwealth Games, where England and Jamaica split the bronze medal honours - with never more than 1 goal between them at the end.

Nigel Holl, director of netball at England Netball is looking forward to renewing the battle against Jamaica, and in particular to watching England's Sonia Mkoloma take on and challenge Jamaica's Romelda Aiken. He said: "Both players are great athletes and were in stunning form as joint 'most valuable players' at the ANZ Championships. Sonia (England Co-captain) has continued that form in our recent series against Australia and New Zealand, so it should be a battle royal!

"Mkoloma's vast experience against Aiken's impressive height will give spectators something to watch. Bring it on!"

England will be pulling out all the stops to demonstrate desire, passion, energy and great skills throughout the series, hoping to prove they are the ones to watch in 2009.

And in the midst of a February freeze ... what a great way for school parties to enjoy a great night in - shouting on England to dramatic victories!
